Dear MCM Family,

Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes needs the Peace UCC building on Sunday, November 9, for a Hmong funeral service. We will worship at Peace UCC on November 2 and at First Presbyterian Church on November 9, 16, 23, and 30.

The MCM Council and I recognize that when we have made similar schedule adjustments in the past, some have had questions. I want to offer a few reflections on how and why these decisions are made:

Our shared space: We do not own the building, nor do we pay rent for it. Lakeshore has been very thoughtful in giving us as much notice as possible so we can adjust our schedule with care.
Our shared humanity: We are called to be compassionate toward families in their time of grief. This is a simple yet profound way to live our faith—by making room for others when they need it most.
Our shared mission: We don’t “make up time” because our worship schedule is not a contest between buildings but a rhythm of grace. We are one body of faith in two locations through Manitowoc Cooperative Ministry, and our published schedules help us stay connected with people who are not yet members. Changing once for a funeral is an act of kindness; changing twice to “make up” the day would only multiply inconvenience.

I’m deeply grateful for your understanding and for the spirit of hospitality that defines Peace Church. This small shift in our plans is another way we bear witness to the inclusive, compassionate love of Christ that we strive to embody each week.
